Which and When to Use Brass, Copper, and PVC Fittings

WeSupplyTrades Team08/22/2025

Every material has strengths and weaknesses and knowing when to use each one will make your installation last longer and perform better.  How to match fittings to the job:

  • Brass fittings offer excellent corrosion resistance and work well in hot water lines, outdoor use, and high-pressure systems. They are also easy to thread and install.
  • Copper fittings are the standard for potable water systems because they handle both hot and cold water with ease. They require soldering but once installed they provide a strong, leak-proof joint.
  • PVC fittings are lightweight, affordable, and ideal for drain, waste, and vent systems. They are easy to cut and join with solvent cement but are not suitable for hot water lines.

By matching the right material to the application, you can avoid failures and keep your customers happy for years to come.
